With over forty people of all ages attending Laneshaw Reservoir at the weekend, this year’s open days have proved more popular than ever. With have a go first timers rubbing shoulders with seasoned fly anglers trying the waters before becoming members, children out- fishing their dads and mums and with plenty of fish being landed a good time was had by all.
The average size of fish coming to the net was around two and a half to three pound Rainbows and Brown trout showing in roughly equal numbers. Most fish were caught off the top of the water with a dry sedge pattern in the morning and evening. Buzzers and bloodworm imitations fished just under the surface came into their own around midday with one angler landing sixteen fish.
